PARTY CARD MASH UP TAKES ON THE GROWING PARTY CARD GAME MARKET

So it all started with UNO…back in the day! No one knew what a party card game was until games like UNO, Skip-Bo, and Phase 10 crept into the market and defined this ‘fringe’ market that stayed on the side of regulation card games and card play - think Spades, Blackjack, or Poker.

Picture it - Sicily, 2012. Cards Against Humanity dropped in the market and took what Apples to Apples attempted to do and redefined what the party card game market looked like. They set an industry standard on read-and-respond games, packaging, snarky marketing, and crowd funding for games.

Since 2012, emerging and highly successful brands have emerged like Exploding Kittens, Unstable Unicorn, and Dolphin Hat Games. But also, as resources were shared and people wanted to give it a go, many Black game creators started to emerge and have shown that there is room in the ever-growing party card game market and created optimism for those wondering “can I create a game that can actually sell?”. Well, YOU CAN!

It took Black Card Revoked, Culture Tags, and Kulture Karaoke, for Party Card Mash Up and PO’UP card brands, both a part of Target Forward Founders second ever cohort, to run. The party card game market has grown from roughly $300M to now being well over $600M since 2012.

With so many brands coming to market and many creators creating so many new ways to experience tabletop party card games, there is so much more on the horizon. And Party Card Mash Up and PO’UP will be there to ride the wave of growth!
